The city is definitely well over 1000 years old, but actually we cannot determine when people setlled here. There are human remains from neolithic era found on royal Wawel Hill so people lived here longer before Poland was brought to life.

They are available in some of historical buildings – as mentioned above - as well as in modern, recently built bigger and medium sized hotels. There is rich choice of Krakow accommodation within the Old Town borders, as well as in nearby Jewish District Kazimierz. Rather modern hotels and hostels of different class you will also find in other parts of the city if you are looking for more quieter and more affordable location.

It is impossible to see everything in Krakow that is worth seeing during a short stay. It is impossible to see every monument of history, known medieval house or renneissance palace, all museums, churchs etc. while on a few days trip. The city is full of valuable artifacts and landmarks and you will probably have to choose something.

There is also Auschwitz Concentration Camp nearby, a place that still remainds the world about the horrors of war and totalitarism.  You can go there with organized trip, by mini-bus or on your own, by train.
